Plantar Fasciitis may be causing your heel pain, and we can help!

What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation or degeneration of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot from the heel to the toes. It plays a vital role in maintaining the foot’s arch and absorbing shock during walking and standing.

Common Symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis include:

  • Sharp or stabbing pain at the bottom of the heel
  • Pain that is worse during the first steps in the morning
  • Increased discomfort after prolonged standing or walking
  • Heel pain after rest following activity

Causes and Risk Factors

Plantar fasciitis may develop due to:

  • Prolonged standing or walking
  • Poor footwear or lack of arch support
  • Flat feet or high arches
  • Tight calf muscles and Achilles tendon
  • Sudden increase in physical activity
  • Obesity or excessive foot loading

Treatment Assessment

At Regenesis, our practitioners perform a comprehensive assessment including:

  • Gait and posture analysis
  • Foot and ankle mobility testing
  • Palpation of the plantar fascia
  • Muscle flexibility and strength evaluation

Based on the findings, an individualized treatment plan is developed.

Our Treatment Approach

1. Pain and Inflammation Management

  • Ultrasound therapy to promote tissue healing
  • IFC/TENS to reduce pain
  • Ice or heat application as appropriate

2. Manual Therapy

  • Soft tissue mobilization of the plantar fascia
  • Myofascial release for tight calf and foot muscles
  • Joint mobilization to improve foot mechanics

3. Stretching and Strengthening Exercises

  • Calf and plantar fascia stretching
  • Foot intrinsic muscle strengthening
  • Ankle stability exercises

4. Patient Education

  • Proper footwear recommendations
  • Activity modification
  • Home exercise program
  • Advice on avoiding barefoot walking on hard surfaces

With consistent rehabilitation, patients experience:

  • Reduced heel pain
  • Improved walking tolerance
  • Better foot function
  • Prevention of symptom recurrence

Plantar fasciitis can significantly limit daily activities, but with timely rehab intervention, recovery is achievable. At Regenesis Pain Management & Rehab Clinic, we focus on long-term pain relief and functional improvement.
